Professor Tim Birkhead took up position as lecturer at the University of Sheffield in 1976, becoming Professor of Behavioural Ecology, in 1992.
Nationally and internationally, Tim Birkhead is known both as a science communicator and for his passion for ornithology, with a reputation as a leading expert in the field. In the University, he is well known for research on promiscuity and sperm competition in birds, which has helped to re-shape current understanding of bird mating systems. He also actively participates in undergraduate teaching, including courses in Animal Behaviour and the History and Philosophy of Science. For more information visit his university homepage. |
