They forage near water, catching insects as they emerge.

Key adaptations

Males have a large throat-sac,used to produce pheromones to attract females during breeding season. They are the only mammal with true wings and flight. Their hind limbs are usually short with sharp curved claws that help them cling to surfaces. They use echolocation.

Social organisation
