Marine and brackish water
Diet and foraging method
Key adaptations
The four-eyed fish is well adapted to living at the water's surface, as their eyes are each divided in half into an upper and lower section. This allows them to see above water with the upper half of their eyes, and below the surface with the lower parts, so they can simultaneously look out for prey and predators.
Social organisation
Travel in schools
Did you know that...?
The four-eyed fish can see above and below the water at the same time, as the bottom half of their eyes has a thicker lens for seeing through water, and the top half has a thinner lens for seeing through air!
