Key adaptations

Shannies have sharp teeth and powerful jaws for crushing prey items such as barnacles. They are able to change colour to camouflage against rocks and seaweed.

Did you know that...?

Shannies are also known as seafrogs as they are able to survive out of water, and can be spotted sitting on exposed rocks by rock pools.
